Report on the CSSF’s 2025 thematic inspection: “The risk of fraud in revenue recognition in the context of an audit of financial statements”
The “Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier”, as authority responsible for the public oversight of the audit profession in Luxembourg, has issued its report on “The risk of fraud in revenue recognition in the context of an audit of financial statements”, which aggregates the results of a thematic review carried out in 2025 in the Big 4 Firms, over a sample of 46 statutory audits, including 17 PIEs.
In the framework of this survey, the CSSF has pursued the following objectives:

This report sets out recommendations for auditors, which the CSSF encourages them to implement in light of the upcoming ISA 240 (Revised) recently adopted by the IAASB and effective for audits of financial statements for periods beginning on or after December 15, 2026.
