Consumer protection

Besides being the competent authority for the prudential supervision of supervised entities in Luxembourg, the CSSF is the competent authority to ensure compliance by these supervised entities with laws and regulations protecting financial consumers. The role of the CSSF within the framework of financial consumer protection has developed through the years, as special powers have progressively been conferred to it by European legislation.

In this section, you will find information related to areas where the CSSF has been granted specific powers or a mandate to intervene or to act in order to protect financial consumers, such as but not limited to the areas of out-of-court resolution of customer complaints, fight against money laundering and counter terrorist financing, financial education and the protection of depositors and investors.

Furthermore, you will find in this section useful information with regard to financial products and to other topics that may have an interest for consumers and other interested persons.
